EMPOWERING THE YOUTH OF OUR CITY.
Despite what we often imagine, Jesus’ apostles were not ministry professionals delivering the message, but rather, transformed teenagers who became it. Just as Jesus demonstrated with his twelve, we believe youth are not simply the next generation, but the now generation that God wants to move through powerfully in everyday life.
We are making a call for the youth of our city, His hungry ones, to experience intimacy with God, realize their value and identity, and usher in His Kingdom culture through a life on mission.
In an age where authentic connection has been fractured, we believe it is the privilege of the local church to step in the gap and catapult middle and high schoolers into the thriving relationship with God and communion with others that they so deeply desire. For this reason, the foundation of our youth department is discipleship. We are empowering everyday middle and high schoolers to grow up into maturity in their walk with God, and also providing a platform for relationship with fellow students who are following Jesus.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE 6PM SERVICE
Once a month we will have a Wednesday night living room gathering where middle and high schoolers will be meeting for food, games, wild worship, and dynamic teaching. What if America’s greatest revival was birthed in our public high schools? What if hundreds of students gathered for Jesus assemblies held in school cafeterias and gymnasiums? What if the local church empowered everyday high schoolers to live life on mission and take ground on their own turf? What if we, the local body, adopted our neighboring high schools as additional campuses or extensions of our church?
At Grove, we are forming strategic partnerships with educators, youth leaders from various ministries, and students with a heart for their high school to see revival birthed in the education sphere. From teaming up with students to plant Jesus clubs and host gospel assemblies during lunch, to starting discipleship groups in the classrooms of our city, we are being sent by the Lord into the harvest fields of our high schools!
If you are an educator, youth leader, or student who has a passion to see God move in major ways in your public high school, please contact email@example.com
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED WITH YOUTH?
There are many ways to get involved with Youth! From d-group leaders at Grove to Jesus club pioneers on public high school campuses, we are seeding a movement at Grove and are open to finding ways for the owners of our congregation to get plugged in with Grove’s Youth department. If you are wanting to get involved or learn more about opportunities to “own it,” please reach out to Nick at firstname.lastname@example.org.
HOW ARE D-GROUPS STRUCTURED?
Facilitated by adult leaders
Each group will have between 3-10 students
Students should bring their bible and journal to Sunday nights
Our middle school d-groups will be a co-ed, collective gathering, while our high school d-groups will be organized by gender and grade.
Sunday night d-groups are merely the springboard for connection throughout the week! We do not view Sundays as “discipleship night,” but rather the first discipleship touch point of many throughout the month. D-group leaders will connect with their students multiple times throughout the month; attending sports games, academic activities, lunch visits, having students over for Monday night football, etc.
If you are bringing a friend to d-groups, or if it is your first time attending, please find Nick or Sophie and introduce your friend/yourself. We will be very excited to have you!
WILL D-GROUPS MEET EVERY SUNDAY?
Yes! Grove Youth d-groups will not be meeting on the following dates:
Sunday, April 21
Sunday, December 22
IS THERE AN ENROLLMENT PERIOD FOR STUDENTS TO JOIN D-GROUPS?
No, students can join d-groups at any time! Simply introduce yourself to Nick or Sophie on Sunday if it is your first time joining!
i am interested in one or more of the events in 2019. when will more details be released?
Great! If you are a parent of youth and are unsure if you are on the email list for weekly youth updates, please email Nick at email@example.com. Nick will send an email to parents with more information regarding 2019 events in the coming weeks. In addition to this, registration pages will be created on the website for students who are wanting to attend the events!
